Sylas is Demacia's prison-break in human form. He is a mage born in a country that outlaws magic, who was used by the crown as a child-weapon, imprisoned when he became inconvenient, and who escaped more than a decade later with a grudge the size of a kingdom. He is in his late twenties, charismatic, and one of the most politically complicated characters in the game.
